NEW

UC Personal Statement Prompts for the Fall 2008

  • Respond to both prompts, using a maximum of 1,000 words total.
  • You may allocate the word count as you wish. If you choose to respond to one prompt at greater length, we suggest your shorter answer be no less than 250 words.
  • Stay within the word limit as closely as you can. A little over—1,012 words, for example—is fine.

Prompt #1

Describe the world you come from – for example, your family, community or school – and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Prompt #2

Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are.

See the CSU/UC section of the Counseling web page for additional information and tips for writing the UC Personal Statement.

Math and Foreign Language Placement

Exam dates will be available in early 2008

Welcome Class of 2012. It is important that your academic career at Rosary be both fulfilling and challenging. Placement in Honors courses is based only on the High School Placement Test Scores.

We want to be sure to place you at the best possible level in foreign language and math. If you have taken one or more years of Spanish or French, or if your home language is Spanish or French, you will want to take our Foreign Language Level 1 final exam. The test will include a writing sample in addition to covering the topics included in the Spanish 1 outline. You will receive a copy in your registration packet and you can also download a copy here Spanish 1 Outline.

If you have taken a full year of high school Algebra, you will want to take our Algebra I final exam. Students who pass the Rosary Algebra 1 final exam will be placed in Algebra II. If you are considered taking the final exam in Algebra 1, please review the Algebra 1 concepts included in your packet or download a copy here Algebra I Concepts. These skills and concepts will be the basis for the final exam and should be mastered to be successful on the exam. Students are allowed to use a calculator on the Algebra I final exam.

Math and Foreign Language Placement Exams will be offered in May, 2008

You may take the exam(s) at the time(s) most convenient for you. Each placement exam will be offered at each time period. You do not need to pre-register for the exam(s). The room number for testing will be posted on the door of the Career Center, which is located upstairs at the top of the middle stairway. Please report to the testing room approximately five minutes prior to the exam. All students should bring two #2 pencils, and students taking the Algebra I final should also bring a calculator.

If there is a conflict with the dates listed, please call our office as soon as possible at (714) 879-7350.

We are looking forward to seeing you at Rosary High School!
